Project „Investments in the field of green-blue infrastructure in Grodzisk Mazowiecki” is carried out in partnership with INTBAU Norway association (INTBAU Norge). Cooperation enables the exchange of know-how and translates into the enrichment of knowledge of the entire project team in the area of the impact of climate change on spatial planning.
In October of 2022, a delegation of a partner from Norway came for the first time for a study visit to Grodzisk Mazowiecki. The meeting agenda included the progress report on the implementation of the project (education and information activities, revitalization of Plac Wolności), consultations, and planning future activities to take place in 2023.
During the field inspection of Plac Wolności, the technical solutions used in the implementation of this investment were discussed, e.g. elements of the rainwater retention system and rainwater management, hybrid lighting, and an educational and informational activity e.g. educational boards and educational events carried out since it was opened to the general public. The project team from Grodzisk presented also the area in the city of the so-called heat islands, and future growth directions of Grodzisk Mazowiecki were discussed.
The meeting conclusions are:
– there are still heat islands in Grodzisk Mazowiecki and it is worth a fight to reduce further concreted areas in the city center, as well as introduce new urban and community projects, involving residents in adapting private space to climate change;
– Partners foresee further opportunities for cooperation on climate change mitigation and adaptation at the urban level to the negative impact of climate change, as well as the continuation of awareness-raising actions in that respect;
– The assumptions of Charette-type workshops and their organizational issues were agreed.
The partnership will reinforce the achievement of the goal of the project i.e.: an increase in people’s awareness of climate change and will strengthen international activities to mitigate the effects of climate change in urban space. The partner will participate in training activities and a scientific conference. This will contribute to the achievement of the project’s objectives.
In 2023, representatives of INTBAU Norway will conduct workshops in the Charette formula addressed to Grodzisk educators and experts from the Municipal Office of Grodzisk Mazowiecki. The hosts and participants will identify key challenges and recommend solutions. The topics of the workshops will be directly related to issues of climate change, i.e.: coherent and friendly design of urban greenery in urban areas, creative rainwater management, or dealing with low emissions in the city.
Project „Investments in the green and blue infrastructure field in Grodzisk Mazowiecki” benefits from co-financing worth 4.5 million received from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway under the EEA funds. The aim of the program is to mitigate climate change and adapt to its effects.
