Not long time ago Plac Wolności (Freedom Square) was a concreted part of the city center. Now it is a new meeting and recreation place for residents among the greenery. In August of last year, Plac Wolności gained a new green face as most of the work was completed. As part of the revitalization, the following works were carried out among others:
– installation of retention tanks, to retain water also so that it can be used to irrigate trees and other plants growing here,
– basins were built as elements of the system of ecological rainwater management – air purifying plans were planted to increase biodiversity – greenery adapted to urban conditions,
– a fountain was built, which creates a friendly microclimate for residents walking and resting on nearby benches.
– the surface was made of natural and water-permeable materials.
The scope of the investment also includes the installation of small architecture (benches, bicycle racks, educational boards), as well as the installation of hybrid lighting. This is undoubtedly another new recreation and meeting zone for residents of Grodzisk Mazowiecki.
The opening ceremony was held on August 21, 2022.
Plac Wolności serves residents as a place to walk and rest among the greenery. This place is also very important for Grodzisk Mazowiecki because it is where the open-air sessions of the City Council are held, or flowers are laid at the monument on days of celebrating historical events.

The revitalization of Plac Wolności was carried out as part of the project „Investments in the field of green-blue infrastructure in Grodzisk Mazowiecki” co-financed by the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 under the program: „Environment, Energy and Climate Change” (Contract No. MFEOG.07.03.0-07-0025/21-00).
